Alexandria A university town and a favourite with holidaying Egyptians. Once home to the Pharos Lighthouse (another of the 7 ancient wonders of the World), sadly many of the ancient ruins are gone but there is plenty to keep a visitor occupied. 
Cairo Experience the hussle and bussle of the countries capital, full of life and noise. Home to ancient temples, the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, and of course, the pyramids of Giza. Stock up on souvenirs bought in the famous Khan El-Kallili market. 
Dahab Hometown of Alaska Camp, Dahab, meaning 'gold' in Arabic, is a little bit of paradise in Egypt. Golden sands, turquoise sea and a wonderful underwater world... 
Luxor The old Egyptian capital of Thebes, and now known as the worlds greatest museum. Enter the tombs of the pharaohs and marvel at the vivid hieroglyphs and paintings on the walls, still as beautiful and colourful today as they were 4,000 years ago. 
Aswan A beautiful, laid back city on the banks of the Nile. Spend the time taking a falucca trip to Elephantine Island or to one of the Nubian villages for a traditional meal with a family, or an overnight cruise up to Luxor. 
Abu Simbel Probably one of the most photographed and recognisable sights in Egypt. 2 temples near the border of Egypt with Sudan. The 4 huge statues of pharaoh Rameses II that flank the entrance to the main temple are a truly a sight to behold. 
Bahariya Oasis Set in a depression and covering over 2000 square kilometres, Bahariya Oasis is the lowest point in Egypt. This is also the starting point for a fantastic safari into the western desert. 
Siwa Oasis Situated in the Western Desert close to the Libyan border, Siwa is Egypt's most remote oasis town and a place where the inhabitants have developed their own distinct and fascinating culture.

Spend a few days wandering the city before stocking up on souvenirs bought in the famous souk (market), Khan El-Kallili.

Abu Simbel Aside from the pyramids at Giza, Abu Simbel is probably the most photographed and recognisable sight in Egypt. A set of two temples near the border of Egypt with Sudan, which, in an amazing feat of engineering, were moved to higher ground when the Aswan Dam was built and water threatened to destroy the area. The 4 huge statues of pharaoh Rameses II that flank the entrance to the main temple are a truly a sight to behold.
